We are thrilled to announce an exciting new summer professional development opportunity produced by the Paul Revere House, the Massachusetts Historical Society, Old South Meeting House, Longfellow National Historic Site, and Old North Church:
Poetry with a Purpose: Teaching History through English Language Arts
Tuesday, August 10, and Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 9:15 AM - 4:30 PM
Want to find opportunities to cover social studies content while your students absorb poetry? We can all benefit from more poetry in our lives! Attendees will explore the relationship between literature and history by studying poetry, primary sources, objects, and spaces at some of the premier historic sites in the Greater Boston area. Participants can expect to learn ways to integrate literature and history into lesson plans to further students’ skills and knowledge of both subjects.
